September Favourites

This has been a totally crazy month for me which meant my blogging took a back seat while I tried to organise my life. Moving from a two bed apartment to a three bedroom house it is going to take as a long time to get things looking how I want them (mainly because furniture is so expensive!) but it's super exciting to see the house transform. Even though I wasn't blogging a lot I still have products I used this month which really stood out to me.

These two products are a little strange to be kicking off my favourites but honestly these have been my ultimate favourites! Mitchum deodorant is the best I have ever used! It keeps you totally dry throughout a tough workout (which totally shocked me!) and during a full day. It doesn't stain my clothes and I choose the unscented bottle so it doesn't clash with any perfume I'm wearing. If you haven't tried Mitchum before I would seriously recommended this to anyone!

I have never tried nose Pore Strips before and while I was browsing in the supermarket I thought I would give T-Zone a try (mainly because they were the cheapest option!). I have really enjoyed using these. When I showed my husband the amount of dirt coming off my nose he also wanted to give it a go. It's really interesting seeing how much rubbish sits in our pores. I don't recommend doing these all the time as it's not gentle on the skin but once every few weeks is always good!

My favourite make up look at the moment is a dark smoky eye teamed with Charlotte Tilbury's Miss Kensington limited edition lipstick. This lipstick is so amazing. It doesn't wash me out, has a lovely creamy matte texture that doesn't cake and stay's on the lips for several hours! I have also been loving using Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Leather Effect as a base for my smoky eye. It matte so it great as a transition colour but it also helps any eye shadows from creasing. Finally I really cannot live without the Maybelline Instant Anti-Eye Eye Easer. This is perfect for waking up the under eye area and covering any dark circles! I also love how easy it is to apply with the sponge applicator!

As the whether begins to change to autumn I have been clinging onto summer for as long as I can. My Jimmy Choo perfume Blossom smells like summer in a bottle. The floral fragrance opens with bright and sparkling top notes of red berries blended with a citrus cocktail. A delicate heart of sweet pea and rose complements rich and sensual base notes of white musk and sandalwood. Jimmy Choo does market this fragrance to be a evening scent but I think it's also fine during the day as it is not too heavy. If you are by a counter I would recommend giving this a try!

Last month I found out I needed glasses. I was skeptical whether I would find any that I liked as I had spent almost 40 minutes in Specsavers trying to find the perfect frame. Then I stumbled across the very tiny MaxMara stand and I feel in love with this pink pair. The front of the glasses is a dark berry and the sides have an amazing pink turtleshell effect. I get so many compliments when I wear these as they are very eye catching!

I just cannot believe how fast this year is going! It's almost hard to believe that there is only 3 months till Christmas and all the stores are slowly bring out their Christmas stock. I hope you have all had a lovely September and I will definitely be blogging again more frequently now I have the internet back!

Lush Haul

lush one

Since the flagship store in Oxford street opened up I have been dying to try all the new products. One weekend I was causally in my local lush store and saw they had some of them! I may have spent more than I wanted to in the store but all the products are so lovely plus it's now autumn so it is definitely bath season again!

lush three

The Exprimenter (left)

This bath bomb really caught my eye with it's bright colours and the usual shape. When I dropped this into the bath it gives me quite a show as all the colours swirl in the bath giving an amazing rainbow effect and lush have also put popping candy in this bath bomb which instantly made me smile. The scent has a smoothing floral note which frankly just smells exactly like the lush shop.

Frozen (right)

To be honest I got this bath bomb purely for the name as I'm a huge lover of the film! It has a very fresh scent so when I closed my eyes in the bath I felt like I was sitting in a hot tub up in the snowy mountains. When I placed this bath bomb into the water it simply fizzed away to and left my bath a beautiful winter blue.

lush two

Milky Bath (left)

I love the lush bubble bars! Unlike the bath bombs these can cut these into smaller pieces so you can use them for many baths. Milky Bath contains uplifting orange oil and skimmed milk to treat your skin to a dose of happiness. I haven't used this one yet but it sounds perfect after a long day at work to really relax before bed as it will calm the mind and soften the skin-plus it's super cute!

Karma (right)

Lush have recently reformulated a few of their permanent bubble bars. I recall Karma used to be a oval shape and orange. This bubble bar is the the best to help me relax with it's lavender scent but still up lifting with the orange zest.

lush four

Yuzu and Cocoa (left)

This is my favourite scented product. I love how it smells like coconut and shea butter. I can see this being perfect for cold, rainy winter day as it will just make me feel instantly warm inside. Again this is a bubble bar so you can easily split this in half (or more!).

Yoga Bomb (right)

This bath bomb has a orange scent which reminds me of Christmas (too early?!). I read online that when you place this in the bath it turns the bath water from a orange to a purple and finally a turquoise- I can't wait to try this!

I am totally loving the new products! I'm equally excited for the Halloween and Christmas collection which will be coming very soon!

Origins Trio

origins one

I haven't been the best with skincare. I never used skin products as a teenager and when I started wearing makeup I only used face wipes (I hear a lot of you gasp!). I do get get spots every now and again but I wouldn't say I have ever had an acne problem. However now I am 25 and I want to start taking better care of my skin. For Christmas I asked for this Origins Trio set and it really has helped improve my complexion more than I ever dreamed of. I have no idea what kind of skin type I have but I will make an educated guess that it is dry-normal. I get really dry cheeks and forehead but during the day I notice a little bit of a shine on my nose and chin but it's nothing that a little powder can't fix.

You might remember My Evening Skin Care Routine post where I gravitated towards cheaper brands. In terms of purchasing facials I thought I would try something a little higher end because I only use them once a week thus feeling like better value for money. I like to target each area of my face with each of the facials and I have found this has given me the best results.

origins two

I love the smell of the Out of Trouble mask. It is a thick cream that smells strongly of eucalypts. When putting the facial on problem areas it gives a tingly feeling like it's killing off all the bacteria under the spot. I only apply a thin layer on my chin because this is the area I break out the most. The bottle suggests you keep it on for 10 minutes however I tend to leave it on about 5 minutes longer just to allow the product to sink into the skin more. Once I have removed the facial it really does leave the area feeling incredibly clean and I have noticed it clears up blemishes faster.

For the rest of my face I use Clear Improvement which claims to clear pores. It is a dark grey colour and a thin water like texture. I apply a good layer of this all over my nose, cheeks and forehead. When drying you can feel the mask tightening on the skin but the feeling isn't uncomfortable. It does require a lot of effort taking the mask off but I suppose its due to the mask really getting into your pores. The skin afterwards feels like it has been deeply cleansed but you need to follow up with a thick moisturiser as the facial is drying.

To help bring back some moisture I follow up with the Drink Up-Intensive mask. It is a completely clear mask and you are meant to leave it on your skin over night. It's not like a moisturiser where it melts into the skin instead it leaves the skin feeling tacky and sticky so if you hate this feeling I wouldn't recommended leaving it on over night. However if you do leave it on over night in the morning you can really feel your skin is a lot more plump, soft and fresh. I do like to cleanse in the morning just to make sure I don't have any product left over on my skin.

While this set was released for Christmas you can get the Origins Essentials Only set from boots. I'm hoping they release another Christmas set as I have really been enjoying using this.

My Travel Makeup Bag

travel makeup one

I have not blogged in what seems like forever. Moving house is amazing but it has it's set backs. The biggest issue I have at the moment is having absolutely no internet. I am lucky enough that today I have visited my in laws so I can get a cheeky post up for you. I am still not sure when the internet will be connected in the house but I hope you enjoy this post in the meantime!

Along with the having no internet, I was living out of a suit case for the first few weeks. I had the difficult task of narrowing a few essentials into a make up bag while the rest of my collection went into boxes (my heart broke when I had to box it all up). I am aware that I forgot to add a lipstick to the photo because I usually leave them in my handbag whoops but here is what I have been putting on my face everyday for the pass few weeks.

travel makeup two

I narrowed down my brushes to four. My Zoeva buffer brush for foundation, two Zoeva eye brushes - one for packing on the shadow and the other for blending out the cease and a RT powder brush. I have also been loving my sample of the Laura Mercier primer that I apply on my chin and nose before foundation and my Urban Decay potion primer to keep my shadow crease free throughout the day.

My Instant Anti-Age Eraser Eye from Maybelline has been a dream these past few weeks. It just brightens up everything under the eye. However I wished I did put a heavy concealer in my make up bag as well for days where I have really dark circles as this doesn't completely cover those.

travel make up three

I've been trying to use up my Chanel bronzer but I have equally been really enjoying the finish of it as it leaves a lovely matte warm effect on the skin. To keep the shine away I have been using the Soap and Glory- one heck of a bloat powder which is finely milled so it's super light on the skin and doesn't cake at all. I have been loving my mascara combo of the Max Factor False Lash Effect to add volume and L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes to add length. The two together give a extremely full and long lash effect. My go to blush is the Max Factor creme blush in seductive pink that is a soft subtle shade of pink on the cheeks.

travel makeup four

Since buying the Urban Decay Naked Smoky eyeshadow palette it's the only thing I have been using on my eye lids. There are so many looks you can do with this from soft day time looks to extreme smoky looks for night time. It's simply amazing! I also have been using my favourite foundation- Urban Decay Naked Foundation in shade 3.5 which is the most perfect match of foundation I have ever owned. It's really light on the skin, has a matte finish and provides loads of coverage so you don't need a concealer.

It's amazing how little make up you need but in saying that I have been really missing having my choices. Can't wait to get my vanity table all set up again in the new house!
