July Favourites

july one

July has been one of my favourite months this year. I started a new job, got back into blogging and it's the last month we will be living in our apartment. There were so many new products I discovered this month as well as old re-discoverities so it was so hard to narrow this post down to only a few. Without further ado here are my July favourites!

july three

Chanel Bronzer this product is probably the oldest make up item I own (it's about 4 years old!). I know some of you will be disgusted at how long I have held onto this thing, yet alone use it, but I'm not the kind of person to throw a product away unless I use it all up and this bronzer is still going strong (just proves that high end product do last longer). I love the shade of this bronzer (I use 63 Terre Ambre) and how it is totally matte! I'll be using this until I can't get anything else out of it!

Garnier Ultimiate Blends- The sleek perfecter oil is the best hair oil I have used in a long time! I have very long and fizzy hair which means I need all the moisture I can get and this just does the trick for me. It ticks all my boxes- smells incredible, doesn't make my hair too greasy, great to use before blowdrying as well as after and doesn't clump my hair.

Rimmel I Sweetie Heart in 005 You're Mine is a matte nail polish in the prettiest of peaches I have never seen. I have worn this a lot this month for the main reason that it goes with all my outfits yet it is still 'summery'. It is hard to apply though and does take a few coats to get an opaque colour but once it's on it doesn't chip for days!

july two

I cannot believe I haven't talked about The Body Shop Mojito Body Butter on my blog. This stuff is..wow! It smells just like a fresh limey mojito which just makes you feel so fresh and clean (perfect fix for a hot summer morning). It also lingers on the skin for most of the day! I really want the splash to go with this so I can have the mojito goodness all day long!

The Rimmel Kate Moss line launched a new nudes range in the UK (which I'm sure you have all heard of) that has exploded with hype. I went into Boots the day after the launch and it was all sold out. I had to go to three boots stores to get my hands on one of these thus I didn't have much choice in shades however 45 is perfect! It's a little more 'nude' than what I usually go for but it's so nice with bronzed skin and a smokey eye! I have been wearing this look days on end and I just can't get enough of it. This lipstick lasts so well throughout the day and has a really creamy texture so it shows no dry patches. If you haven't gotten your hands on one you must!

Lastly I have been crazy about the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 15 Seductive Pink. This blush is the best blush I have tried in a very long time. You can never go overboard with it! Its the perfect purple-pink shade which gives the cheeks the most beautiful hint of colour!

I'm so excited for August to see what discoveries I find!

Rimmel Apocalips

apocalips one

This post about the Rimmel Apocalips may seem a little dated for a few of you but I just had to share my love for these so I'll keep it snappy!

First of all the colour pigmentation is incredible! Never have I seen colour so bright and long lasting in a drug store product. However I have to say colour choice is essential as the first colour I got was Luna and it was rubbish (on me anyway). It was just too peachy and looked cakey after a few minutes of wearing it. However after seeing so many raving reviews I decided to get a brighter colour and Stellar caught my eye and... WOW!!!... this colour is stunning! I'm not joking when I say every time I wear this I get questions as to what it is. I also didn't have to top it up once, not even after I finished eating lunch! It didn't smear all over my face either. Due to this break through I wanted to try more, I was hooked!

apocalips two Left to Right: Big Bang, Stellar, Apocaliptic, Celestial, Luna

I then bought Big Bang, Apcolaiptic and Celestial which I love all like crazy! I noticed there is a matte line as well I'll be keen to try out! (Told you I was going to keep it snappy! hee hee)

Selfridges Haul

selfridges one

I've been feeling a huge spending itch for awhile now. I really wanted a few new products to try and when my husband suggested we go to Selfridges I leaped at the chance (my husband never suggests going shopping). I initially wanted new clothes but I hate the 70's trend and everything I did like was super extensive so I diverted to make up. I love shopping for make up in the Selfridges Beauty Hall. Everything is displayed so nicely and all the woman who work on the counters are so helpful and lovely that I always find something that I'm looking for.

selfridges two

I always gravitate towards Dior as their counter always looks so sophisticated. The staff at Dior was so lovely and knowledgeable in all the products which made me trust their opinion instantly. I have been pondering trying a Dior foundation for awhile now but I didn't know whether to go for the Forever or the Star. Without hesitation the Dior staff said Star as it lasts a long period of time, doesn't cake, doesn't slide around the face and gives a lovely radiant look to the skin- with all those claims how can I say no?! They offered to take all my current foundation off and apply this one which felt lovely and the match was perfect! I loved it so much I wanted the matching concealer which is high in coverage but isn't thick like some others I have tried. I just had to take them home with me!

selfridges three

I am so addicted to Charlotte Tilbury's lipsticks. My husband offered to buy me a Tom Ford lipstick but I opted for Charlotte Tilbury as I love her Matte Revolution line. I already own Bond Girl and it's my favourite lipstick of all time although I feel it's more appropriate for the winter but the UK has suddenly had a drop in temperature So naturally I chose Love Liberty. It is a plum colour but not super dark which makes it so unique. I can't wait to wear this!

I'm hoping to do a in-depth review on all these products when I have tried them out more so watch this space!

Brand Focus: BareMinerals

bareminerals one

I love the inspiration of this brand! BareMinerals aims to produce products that are powered by nourishing, skin-loving minerals. They only use the purist of ingredients which is fantastic for your skin. Due to the brand only using good minerals in their make up and knowing I will be wearing foundation 9-5 Monday to Friday it sounds like the perfect base for me.

bareminerals two

bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation

I absolutely love this foundation. It is a mineral foundation and skincare serum in one which is great for dehydrated skin. It is very watery in texture but has amazing coverage that can be adjustable depending how much product you use as it is super blend-able. The minerals in this are Supercharged Lilac Plan Stem Cells and Vitamin C which create a brighter and flawless finish to the skin. For me it does not cake in the slightest and absorbs so well it doesn't move around the face at all. Due to the watery texture it does not feel heavy, in fact I forget I'm wearing it sometimes. It's the perfect foundation for the summer as it has SPF 20. It retails at £26.00

bareminerals three

Mineral Veil

This powder, along with the foundation, is amazing. With it being so finely milled it is feather light and adds just a touch of subtle colour to the skin so you can wear the powder on it's own for a 'makeup free' look. The best way I use this is after I have applied my foundation. I tip the product upside down so a little bit of the powder sits in the lid of the container. I then get a really big fluffy brush to sweep it all over my face focusing on my chin, nose and forehead. It really does help keep oil at bay without leaving your face cakey. The only issue I had was with the packaging, it was so hard to remove the steal that I had to get my husband to do it (and he even struggled to get it off!) so you may want to ask the ladies at the counter to remove it for you. It retails at £21.00

These are the first products I have ever bought from bareMinerals. I now have my eye on the Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream as I have been so impressed so far!

My Take to Work Make-Up Bag

whats in my makeup bag one

For the past three weeks I have made the transfer of being a full time student to working full time in a office. When I was at university there weren't many days where I was on campus all day so didn't carry around a "make up bag" but now that I'm in the office 9-5 Monday to Friday I definitely need a few supplies to keep my make up in place and to keep fresh.

To start off with it wouldn't a make up bag without a hand cream (cause my hands get so crazy dry after washing them) and a hand sanitiser (the strawberry one from The Body Shop smells amazing!) to keep your hands happy.

whats in my makeup bag two

My smell of choice is the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. I wanted a perfume that doesn't totally stink up the whole office but a smell that will just freshen me up after lunch. This is perfect. It also makes me feel like I'm on a beach for a split second.
I also carry around a little brush to help apply my powder. The one I use is by Dior that I got with my bronzer but you can easily pick up one from Boots or even your local supermarket.

whats in my makeup bag three

I don't like carrying around expensive powders because I'm also worried they will get smashed in my bag but this one from Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder does the job perfectly to fix up any midday shine.
I also like to use my Chanel Correcteur Perfection long Lasting Concealer to cover any spots or redress that might be showing through my foundation.
To cover all those awful black circles I have my Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Heavy Duty Concealer and it also doubles up as my mirror!

whats in my makeup bag four

These are quite possibly my most important products (you will understand if you are a lip addict like me!). For summer I like to wear pinks and low maintenance lipsticks. My absolutely favourite lip product is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick. Here I have Peach Club but I will quite happily wear any of the colours in the range (I also secretly really want to buy all the colours in the collection). A new favourite is my Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Velvet which is perfect for those smoky eye days. I pair the lipstick with Rimmel London Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in eastend snob. In fact I sometimes so wear this lip liner on it's own if I want a super matte look.

So there is a peak into my work makeup bag. What are some of your essentials for your make up bag?

Empties Part One

empties one

There is nothing more satisfying than using up a whole product! I am definitely a person who loves to get their money's worth so I use every drop of any product I buy. It also frees up space for new products to take it's place to try out!

empties two

Sweet Sugared Almond body wash from Treaclemoon Jar I have hunted high and low for the exact product to link for you but I cannot find it anywhere apart from the Sugared Almond Tart bodywash. So it is either the same thing or the one I have was limited edition. Either way, oh my goodness this stuff smelt amazing! I bought it at Tesco around Christmas and it has been such a pleasure to use. The smell of almonds is so strong and lingers on the skin. I really hope the Sugared Almond Tart is similar or they bring it out again around Christmas time because I will definitely be repurchasing!

The Body Shop Ginger Anti Dandruff Shampoo this is a topic that no one seems to like to talk about but I'll hold my hands up and say 'I suffer with dandruff' and I have done so my whole life. I have been on the hunt for the best anti dandruff shampoo for years and sadly this one isn't it. While the ginger makes it smell so fresh it just couldn't clear up my dry scalp. I wouldn't say it is the worst I've tried it just isn't the best. It does stop your scalp from feeling crazy itchy but it doesn't clear it up. So it's back to the drawing board to find the right one for me.

empties three

Sanctuary 5min Thermal Detox Mask this was a fun product to use. When you apply the mask on your face you can feel it heat up which apparently draws out impurities from deep within the skin. I didn't really notice a huge change to my skin but it didn't break me out so I count that as a win. I really liked how when it dried it really showed up your blackheads which made it appear like it was doing something amazing to them- sadly it didn't remove them completely but I did notice they were reduced. I would happily buy this again.

No7 Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation I had never heard of this foundation before. How I stabled upon it was when I was in desperate need to find a foundation that had no SPF thus not making me look a ghost in any photos. To my surprise this foundation is actually really good! It is matte but not caky. Has good coverage but can be blended out to look really natural. It also has a lovely mousse texture which is really light on the skin. Overall I was so impressed by this that I would say that it is one of my favourite foundations I have tried. I never re-purchase a foundation as I love to try new ones all the time but it's really up there in terms of my personal ratings!

Hawkstone Park

hawkestone six

On Saturday Adam and I visited the beautiful Hawkstone Park which is in the Shropshire. It is a three hour walk (which I did not know hence the really awful shoe decision) with loads of stunning views. For an adult it is approximately £8.00 for entry and there is a cute tearoom and a gift shop.

hawkestone four

I wore my Topshop sandals that my mum bought me last summer (which really hurt my feet in the last 30minutes of our walk), my Cambridge blue satchel bag, some PJ inspired trousers from Primark, a yellow cami again from Primark and a black kimono from New Look. I was going to show you all a full body photo but I hated all the photos I took so naturally I have deleted them.

hawkestone one

hawkeston two

We did enter the treasure hunt but sadly we only found five out of the ten stars (they are really hard to find!)

hawkestone eight

hawkestone seven

We ended up climbing a huge narrow tower and once we were at the top there were stunning views of the English country side. There was not a lot of space at the top and the drop down was really scary hence why I'm clinging to the walls in this photo!

hawkstone five

hawkestone five

hawkestone nine

It was such a lovely day and the weather was perfect! I would definitely come again but next time I would bring a picnic with me and wear trainers as it is not a leisurely walk.

Review: Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette Sugar and Spice

makeup rev one

There has been so much craze for Makeup Revolution and their palettes that I just had to check it out for myself. Again I have always been skeptical about cheaper make up especially when a brand has been hyped up. I ended up choosing the Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice however there was not much of a selection at the stand as most of the products were destroyed from people using them as testers! The palette has 8 shades (which none of them have names) in a brown-berry colour scheme. They are all matte apart from the two at the end. The palette retails at £6 which is nice as it doesn't break the bank.

makeup rev two

The two brown shades on the top left corner I don't get much use out of at the moment but that is not to say that I won't use them. I just tend to use browns in the winter to warm the face up without using a bronzer. In the meantime I have used them as a blending colour for my eyelids and they work really well for that!

The two berry shades below the browns (this is so difficult to talk about when they have no names!) I wore once and never again. They are too crazy bright for me. When I tried them I felt like I time travelled back to the 80's. These colours are not the easiest to blend out either so once your brush hits your cheek it is not going anywhere so I had to take my foundation brush in the effort to fade it out.

The two remaining colours parallel to the highlighter colours are workable. The top pink shade is light on the skin which gives a lovely flushed look meanwhile the peach colour is lovely for the summer with bronzed skin. Both these shades I have to say make the palette worth the purchase as they are really beautiful!

Now we get onto the highlight looking blushes on the end. There is simply noway anyone could wear these two either as a highlight or a blush! The berry one on the bottom is too pigmented to be a highlight and way to shiny to be a blush. The lilic one on the top is just glitter galore which is just not cute. I ignore these two as I think they are simply awful.

Due to two browns being workable and the pink and peach being amazing I would say that this is definitely well worth the price. The palette could do without the crazy berry shades and the two shimmery ones on the end cause then the palette would be perfect. I have heard better reviews about the Golden Sugar Palette so I might try that instead.

What's on my iPad

If there is one thing I love just as much as blogging is playing games. I find it so relaxing and there is nothing else I want to do when I'm on my lunch break or when I'm chilling on the couch. I just get so addictive and proud when I hit my achievements in the game. I have to admit I have not ventured into computer games as Mac computers are rubbish for gaming so I just stick to apps on my iPad. Below are a three of my favourite games at the moment. You will see a pattern of what I like- games which require to either build a farm, battle ground or city.

HayDay

HayDay

This is the oldest game I have played on. I have been on and off it for two years but I simply love how nothing can ruin or destroy your farm. It is always happy in HayDay where your only stress is waiting for your cakes to cook before your boat leaves!
It is a free to install but there are in game purchases however to be honest I have been fine without purchasing anything. The aim of the game is to build a working farm and complete boat orders, truck orders, derby tasks and village orders.
You can play solo or you can join a neighbourhood. Without joining a neighbourhood you unfortunately cannot participate in the derby. The derby is where the neighbourhood get together to complete tasks to win prizes but you are competing against other neighbourhoods to get in the top three places in the race. There are loads of lovely neighbourhoods in HayDay so finding one for you will not be hard.
There is not just a farm to take care of. You have a fishing area and a town centre. The fishing areas allows you to fish (as your would expect), cook lobster (of course in HayDay the lobster don't actually die) and 'groom' ducks for their feathers. The village is where you have different shops and have to complete each customers order to win prizes and gain experience points.
I love this game but it can be slow paced and the best way to level up is simply through playing it heaps as there is no real skill involved in it however if you want a play that is relaxing and you can come back to at any time then I highly recommend this one!

ClashofClans

Clash of Clans

I saw this game advertised on television and saw it was the same makers of HayDay so I had to give it go. I'm glad I did because I really look forward to getting the chance to play this. The aim is to build an amazing defence base and to attack other bases to gain trophies. You can join a clan as well which allows you to enter the war where you play against other clans for loot. It took me awhile to understand the war aspect but it seems to me that you have own own base to build (usually it's just the same as your main game base) and just attack the enemy bases but you are apart of your clan team so you all have to collectively win. The best part of the game I think is being able to re-watch people attacking your base. Recently its all higher levels who have been attacking mine so unfortunately I have been losing but my attacks have been keeping my trophies even. I haven't been playing this game for long but so far it's a game that I keep returning too.

simcity

SimCity Build it

This is a really new game to me but I know I love it already. It is created by the same people for The Sims but instead you build a city rather than a Sims life. The aim is to make all the people in your city happy so they pay you higher taxes. As you progress in the level you unlock different city needs like schools and police stations. When I started playing I didn't have enough fire stations so had an whole apartment building burn down! Sims also leave if the there are too many traffic jams so you have to update the roads every so often. To gain coins you need to upgrade resident building by creating building items in the factories. You have to be careful where you build certain buildings as your residents hate living next to e.g. a sewer or coal factory. One down side to the game is that you run out of things to do quickly so you can't play it for hours on end cause you have to wait for things to be built but what I do is that I flick between this and the other other games so I can spend a good hour playing them all!

I'm interested to know what games you like to play?!

Dollybowbow Box 3 - Summer Edition

dollybox one

I have watched Kate from Dollybowbow on Youtube for a long time now. I've always been interested in buying from her shop but being a poor university student I would always talk myself out of it. Last year at Christmas she started releasing seasonal jewellery boxes. Again I was tempted but never quite tempted enough to put my card details in until this seasons box! It is the rose gold edition box! I absolutely love rose gold because it's young, sophisticated yet still unique. The only item that was not gold rose is the statement necklace but the necklace is so beautiful it does not worry me.

What is in the box

Rose Gold Horse Shoe Necklace
Rose Gold Dainty Heart Earrings
Rose Gold and Crystal Bracelet
Rose Gold Infinity Ring

All these items retail for £29.94 including delivery and it comes perfectly packaged with a lovely black box with a pink bow and all the items are in separate jewellery pouches aside from the statement necklace which was wrapped in pink tissue paper. I personally didn't have any issues with any of the items being tangled but I have read some reviews that people did have a few issues.

dollybox two

Kate describes the Statement Necklace as a vintage style, teardrop necklace on an antique gold base. The jewels are mint green, purple and classic diamond inspired. This looks really nice with a monochrome outfit as it adds a bit of colour. I don't think it is too out there like some statement necklaces can be so I would defiantly wear it for work either under a collared shirt or with a high necked dress.

dollybox three

I wasn't too fussed on the Horse Shoe Necklace. I thought it felt cheap and very light weight so the necklace doesn't sit right when wearing it. But this is the only item that was a flop. The Gold and Crystal Bracelet on the other hand is simply stunning! It looks so beautiful on the wrist that when I'm out and about I find myself starring at it in admiration. It just looks far more expensive than it is and looks perfect with my Michael Kors rose gold watch.

dollybox four

The Heart Earrings are pretty but I think they are a little young for me so I will be giving these to my 13 year old sister in law. But the Infinity Ring is absolutely gorgeous. You don't get to choice a size but it fitted perfectly on my ring finger (I was slightly hoping it would be too small and I could wear it as a middie ring but alas!). I wore it all weekend and it did not give me a green finger at all! So I am very impressed with the quality.

I can't wait for her next box as now I am totally hooked!

My Evening Skincare Routine

skincare one copy

Your skin is probably the most important thing on your body and I always forget that it is actually a living organism which makes is even more important to decide wisely what to clean it with. My skin type is normal-dry however I am prone to break outs on my chin. So I need something that isn't going to strip my face nor break me out. I also do not like to fork out a lot of money on skincare. So the little routine I have set up stops my breaks out (well...most of the time) and dryness from happening yet it is super purse friendly!

How I take my make-up off

I firstly use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and pour a little onto a large cotton pad to take my eye make-up off. I find it too harsh to use on my skin but for removing mascara and stubborn eyeliner this is great!
To remove my foundation I use The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. It took me awhile to work out the best way to use this but the best way I think is to just place one pump into the palm of my hand, then I rub my hands together to spread the product and gently rub it onto my face. This breaks down my make up perfectly and because it is an oil it doesn't dry out my skin in the slightest.

skincare two

My Cleanser of Choice

I like to use the No 7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser after using my cleaning oil mainly to remove the excess oil but it's gentle and prevents break outs. When you buy the cleanser it comes in a nice little box with a exfoliating muslin cloth (which I only get one use out of as it doesn't wash well). I just use one pump and rub it all over my face (avoiding my eyes) then I run come warm water and soak my face cloth in it. I wring the cloth out and gently remove the cleanser off my face. Afterwards my skin feels so clean and soft!

Moisturiser

To finish off I apply a small amount of the The Body Shop Vitamin E Night Cream which intensively hydrates and helps leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth!

Law School? How to Survive It

How to Survive Law School one

This year I graduated from the LPC but I also have a LLB (from New Zealand but it's very similar to the UK) and done the dreaded GDL. I hope this post is going to help some of you who are about to start at university or are thinking about doing law as an career. I am by no means an expert so take my experience with a pinch of salt.

Study Smart not Hard

I think the title explains it all. In first year you will be full of energy and feel the need to read EVERYTHING on the syllables but that approach is simply a total waste of time as a) you won't use everything you read b) unless you have the brain of a superhero you are not going to be able to take in all the reading and c) you will have to kiss away your social, family or extra co-coriccular activities

What I learnt to do in my third year (yup it took me this long to work out why my mates grades where amazing plus they were able to go out twice a week) to use the study case note books that lecturers usually forbid. These are great for skipping reading thousand of pages of cases and it cuts out the rambles of the judges and it just focuses on the issues which you will get actual marks on. Just don't take them into lectures because you are likely are going to be shamed in front of all your peers (yes this happened numerous time in class!).

how to survive law school three

For essay's I think it is okay use the internet to see if there is an example essay so you can get a feel for what you need to cover. I highly recommend not copying as you will get caught and it will kill your dreams of being a lawyer. If there is nothing on the internet (but even there is I would still do the following) just simply look at your lecture slides. Chances are they are going to want you to discuss all aspects of that topic even if you don't think they are relevant. As all the lectures are looking for is whether you understand the topic. In my experience they do not care about extreme views or how deep you researched into the topic. You are not doing your PHD so forget about creating your own theories- only agree with someone else's.

When writing up your notes for exams have a look on eBay to see if there are past student's notes for sale. Try to buy ones who went to the same university as you as this will help with cross referencing with what you have done in class. Use the past student's notes as a template aka a skeleton for your notes. This will save you DAYS!! which means you have more time to do practice exams and work through areas where you struggle. Plus after exams you can sell yours to make some extra cash!

Work Experience

Everyone has high expectations to get that first class degree, but sadly majority of students usually get a 2:1. While this is a good grade it is common so you need to find out ways to stand out. When you start to do your LPC it becomes clear how essential it is to get work experience!. This will be hammered onto you over and over again but with a good cause. The idea of a law degree is to become a solicitor, to become a solicitor you need to work in a law firm, law firms tend to only employ people who have worked in a law firm-simple.

If you can I would become a Legal Apprentice before doing a law degree. This way you have a HUGE head start over thousands of other students across the country. Practical work experience is invaluable, it is almost more important than having good grades. Plus its great to have a GAP year to save some money, travel and just have a little bit of fun.

For those who do not get the chance to do the Legal Apprentice scheme, do load of Pro Bono work. This shows dedication and chances are there will be solicitors volunteering as well which is great to start a network going.
On top of good grades and work experience, law firms want interesting people to work for them. So create a hobby for yourself. It can be blogging, music, sport...whatever, show that you have a life outside law! Sadly drinking with your mates doesn't quite cut it. Get all this sorted out while you are at University as it becomes so much harder to do once you have graduated and you are battling against hundreds of other students for that one minimum paid legal assistant job (sad I know)...yet again a training contract!

how to survivie law school two

Training Contract

Don't forget about researching into firms and while you are at university follow and go to "everything" your favourite law firms sets up. This will greatly increase your chances in a training contract. Sadly I was slow on the competition for training contracts so I currently don't have one...don't end up like me! (lol?!)

To work or not to work during your studies

For some of us this isn't a option but for others it may be difficult to decide whether to study, do unpaid work experience AND keep up with a hobby. But I would try and look into getting a job for a summer or just a Saturday job. In the future you are going to need references and your PAID employee is the best person to do that. Plus having some money in your bank account is also a bonus.

Wow...this may of been one of my longest posts to date but there is just so much to say! I really do hope I have helped at least one person out there! And good luck in your studies!

My Budget Beauty Collection

budget makeup

I admit I have always had bad opinion on cheaper make up. I'm not talking about your high street brands like Revlon, Seventeen, Maybelline or L'Oreal but I'm talking about your ridiculously cheap brands like Natural Collection, MUA or Makeup Revolution. In my mind they were like the "kiddie" makeup brands for...well...kids!! Thus I thought it would be inappropriate for a 25 year old woman to purchase such inferior brands for the fear of being mocked and laughed at. However since starting my blog back up and reading various different posts about budget beauty brands my curiosity got the best of me. I went into Superdrug and Wilko's to pick a few highly rated products.

budget makeup six

From Superdrug I got the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in B150D (there appears to be no actual name for the shade). I do think it is great for the money but I find that it is a little too glittery and it doesn't blend out nicely either (perhaps I have been too pampered with the Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter!). I will still use it but I don't think I will repurchase it.
Next is Essence Blush Up! in 10 Heat Wave. Now I really like this product! It's perfect for the summer and the ombre effect on the blush gives the appearance of looking so much more expensive than it is. It is highly pigmented so you have to be very light handed with your brush. I'm excited to try a few more things from this brand!

budget makeup four

You may remember these from My Top 5 Favourite Summer Lipsticks where I raved about the Collection Cream Puff in Fairy Cake. I love these lip products! Along with Fairy Cake I also have it in Cotton Candy. I don't want to go into too much detail as you can read up on it here but they are soft, smell incredible and last well on the lips. I just wished they did more colours!

I think I may have to discover more budget beauty items! Do you have any recommendations?!

Review: Zoeva Rose Golden Vol 2 Luxury Brush Set

Zoeva Brushes Review

This Zoeva Rose Golden Vol 2 Luxury Brush Set is the perfect set for any vanity table. It comes with a Buffer Brush, Luxe Face Paint Brush, Luxe Cheek Finish Brush, Smudger Brush, Crease Brush, Luxe Smoky Shader Brush, Wing Liner Brush and a Brow Line Brush which is perfect for a starter kit. The retail price is approximately £56.95 from Beauty Bay.

When the brushes first arrived they came with a additional rose gold make up bag (which is perfect for the handbag!) and a brush holder. Delivery from Beauty Bay is speedy and they came packaged in a huge box which helps protect your purchase plus if you have a cat is doubles up as a toy (as my cat decided to do).

My Experience with the Brushes

The brushes, in my opinion, felt a little rough on the skin at first however they do soften when you have washed them a few times. However I am sad to say that they do not wash the best. When they have finished drying I have noticed a few of the hairs have started to poke out in weird directions. So far it's only one or two hairs so I've just trimmed them off. I will update you all when I have used them for a little longer to see how they wear long term.

Overall my favourite brushes are the Buffer Brush which is perfect for getting a flawless foundation look and the Luxe Smoky Shader Brush is fantastic for my bottom lashes for a smoky eye look. These brushes are great value for money, beautiful to look at and there is a brush in the set for any look you need to create.

Rating: I give the set a 7/10.
